Description
Our raw, Cheshire spring honey infused with freshly picked peppermint and spearmint leaves and organic liquorice root. We grow the spearmint and peppermint flowers ourselves locally without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilisers.
After infusing the mixture in the warming cabinet for two weeks we press it through a coarse filter so some of the black specs of the liquorice root stay suspended in the honey. The taste of this unusal but delicious mix comes through in waves: First the soothing flavour of honey, followed by the gentle warmth of liquorice and then leaves the palate with the refreshing taste of mint.
Liquorice helps to relax bronchial spasms and soothes soreness in the throat and can fight viruses that cause respiratory illnesses and an overproduction of mucus, such as irritating coughs, asthma and chest infections.
Mint’s strong aroma is very effective in clearing up congestion of the nose, throat, bronchi and lungs, which gives relief for respiratory disorders that often result from asthma and the common cold. As mint cools and soothes the throat, nose and other respiratory channels, it relieves the irritation which causes chronic coughing.
Ingredients:
Cheshire honey, Spearmint leaves, Peppermint leaves, Liquorice root
Serving suggestion:
Add to a cup of warm (not hot!) water to help offer relief from the symptoms of coughs and a sore throat. Using only warm water preserves all the beneficial antioxidants, enzymes and biflavonoids.
Precautions:
- Honey should not be taken by people with allergies to honey, pollen or other bee products.
- Honey should not be given to infants under 12 months.
- The use of herbs and spices is a time-honoured approach to strengthening the body and alleviating the symptoms of illness. They can, however, contain components that can trigger side effects and interact with other herbs, supplements, or medications. If in doubt seek the advice of a qualified health care provider.
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women should be especially cautious and avoid taking large quantities of herbs or spices
