This board butter is based on 100% pure food grade, unbleached, unrefined beeswax from our hives in the Cheshire countryside. Our food grade beeswax is made only from the virgin honey comb cappings from our mid summer honey crop. This results in a naturally light wax that has been freshly made by the bees just a few weeks before being harvested. This means there’s very little exposure to the environment and a minimum chance of contamination. It is rendered at low temperatures to preserve all the natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties and only comes into contact with food grade materials and is treated with the same high level of hygiene as all Bax Bees food products. This preserves all the inherent antibacterial and antimicrobial properties of the beeswax to naturally fight bacteria in food applications.
How to use:
Ensure the surface to be treated is scrupulously clean and dry. Ideally, to thoroughly dry and improve absorption, warm boards first in an oven on it’s lowest setting for 15 minutes. Whilst the board is still warm apply liberally with a clean cloth, allow time to penetrate, then wipe off any excess.
Select which of the two types of butter required from the pull down menu.
- Neutral in colour but may darken the wood slightly as the natural oils are replenished. If in doubt, test on a small concealed area first.
- After use close the jar tightly and store in a cool place.
- Take care not to overheat wooden boards in an oven as they may crack or warp.
